How To Remove Stripped Differential Fill Plug. Built up a short extension and put my long 3/8 drive wrench on it. Plug (for manual transmission filler) toyota retail price is $8.02.
Basically, you're supposed to use a 3/8 square drive to remove the plug. This plug uses a crush washer that i also got from the stealership. At this point i would buy a new plug and get some liquid wrench and spray it down good.then take it down to a muffler shop/mechanic and have them remove the plug.

A clean shirt in a dirt. Of course i put my nearly stripped drain plug right back in when the job was done. If you want to apply an axial force to help the plug come out, you could remove the cover, drain the oil,.

Found it stripped after i bought the truck. Go to a metal fab shop and have them weld a real nut on there. Make sure to clean off the crap off the magnet on the drain plug.

I had a stripped hex plug on a 5l30e bwm transmission before, and the torx socket got it out for me. Has the square insert head that has been rounded out. Then take it home remove the cover and change the fluid.
Well The Filler/Drain Bolt From The Factory Are Around 36 Ft/Lbs Tight.
The plug takes a 13mm square. I haven't drained the fluid yet, so. I used a 3/8 ratchet extension, & a breaker bar for leverage.
I Am Sure There Must Be A Tap Or Similar Tool, To Remove This Fill Plug When It's Rounded Out, As What Happened To You.
I was using a long extension on the 8mm hex bit socket and apparently didn't have it lined up properly when pulling on the long ratchet handle. Basically, you're supposed to use a 3/8 square drive to remove the plug. Built up a short extension and put my long 3/8 drive wrench on it.
