2005 Subaru Forester Overheating At Idle. Now just rough idle and drives crappy. Asked by carandall jul 18, 2014 at 01:02 pm about the 2005 subaru forester xs.
Shuddering in first gear acceleration to second, fine in all other gears. I purged the system also. I changed the thermostat and nothing changed.
I Have A 2003 Subaru Forester With The 2.5 Just Bought It And Did Timing Belt Plugs Wires And Coil.
I pressure tested the cooling system checked out good, compression tested the cylinders they were fine. 1 gal 100% coolant + 1 small bottle coolant conditioner + 1 gal water. I bought it with about 70k on and have been doing a lot of the services myself.
Overheating subaru forester / 2005 2.5 non turbo. Manual transmission city car after a long highway drive, started idling rough, after stop for ferry crossing. The issue is that my engine is overheating, and only at idle.
I Drove It Home And Didn’t Get 20 Minutes Away And It Started Overheating Again.
The next time it happened i was away from home, and the mechanic there changed the water pump. The top hose is hot. Once i star accelerating again, the temperature reliably decreases to operating temperature.

This guide is intended to help you find the cause of this overheating in. If the heat isn't being effectively removed by the cooling system, the engine can suffer major damage. Ran great for about a month then started overheating so i put a new thermostat in made it to work and back twice and overheated again.
I Purged The System Also.
Now just rough idle and drives crappy. Had it towed to my house and replaced the radiator and thermostat (oem) filled it with coolant and drove it for about 25 min then overheated when i came to a stop. It wasn't pristine, but very clean for a 7 year old car.
